Restless is about obeying the urge to get the hell out when you're feeling stagnant. It's about getting back on the horse, back in the ring, back to the unknown, and doing what you set out to do despite what your surroundings are telling you. The band felt that this song was especially pertinent to release at the end of 2020 since everyone is getting cabin fever from being in lockdown. Also, the song feels like a sort of parting salute to 2020.
