I wrote the song when I was in Oregon, which is where I'm from originally. I was up late listening to the sounds of the frogs and crickets. It struck me how they were serenading their mates, and how the search for love and sex is echoed throughout the planet on microcosmic to macrocosmic scales. So I anthropomorphized the activity of the creatures, large and small, of the night. I feel like this metaphorical relationship that we have with the natural world is magical and spiritually meaningful. This song was my attempt to capture that. It's a very unusual song and it's turned out to be a favorite with our fans and with audiences.
